Channeling your inner grunge does not always mean that you must go back in wearing shapeless dresses and flannels. Thanks to today’s modern twist and edgier style, you can tweak those grunge fashion staples into the look you love.

You will be very  happy to see some plaids popping up on various type of skirts this season. Pencil, mini, maxi, any skirts you like. If you are in the mood of having a nostalgic moment by wearing plaid, then you should try to wear this plaid pencil skirt. This classic grunge pattern will never get old.

For the first style, you can wear a plaid pencil skirt and combine it with a velvet or suede bralet. Bralet are actually really good for layering and also a perfect piece to team with a pencil skirt. A velvet bralet is a great way yo add a pop of texture to your grunge ensemble, and it’s very elegant. This is how you can add a modern twist to the old grunge style.

Remember the rule of grunge look, it’s all about layering. So, a leather biker jakcet layered over your bralet will make a cool grunge look. This whole outfit has 90s grunge vibe, especially when you finish it with a pair of black lace up platforms and stud earrings. If you are going to walk outside, opt for a black round sunglasses, this way you can really channel your hidden teen spirit! For the second style, I opted to welcome plaid with this amazing mini skirt. This type of skirt fits like a glove for girls with petite body who wants to have a grunge look. I am so happy to finally find a killer plaid skirt like this.  Leather also covers the waist area of the skirt which gives it a more lux feeling.

Team it with an oversized t-shirt, since it is perfect for the grunge look. It’s very loose-fitting and great for layering too. You can tuck the t-shirt into your plaid mini skirt or just leave over your skirt like that.

For the footwear, you should leave your heels or flats at home because it’s time to take out your old pair of Dr Martens lace up boots. This shoes will surely take you to a trip down the memory lane, which is to the 90s. And where would you be without some killer accessories? Pick some accessories that scream grunge, like black choker and a pack of simple silver rings. Spike and studs are also the perfect accessories for grunge look.

This outfit is ideal for fall when the weather cools up. You will only need another grunge element to add to the whole look, for example a leather jacket or coats, stockings, and sock. Oh, and of course a beanie that will complete this grunge inspired look.
