An icon has passed, a legendary loss for fashion. On February 19th, 2019, Karl Lagerfeld, the prolific fashion designer and artistic director of Chanel and Fendi, has died in Paris. He was 85 years old.
Not only known for his iconic dark sunglasses, grey ponytail and monochrome outfits, Karl Lagerfeld had always created the most extravagant runway shows for Chanel. Here are just some, really just some, (because all of his sets were super iconic) of the over the top shows he had created: Transforming Paris’s Grand Palais into Chanel By The Sea, where you can see a sandy and serene beach getaway complete with its own ocean and on-duty lifeguard (SS 2019), to making the models walked through an aisle of food at the grocery store (Fall 2014), and even launching a life-size rocket ship for his Fall 2017 collection!
Karl has formed so much of the world’s fashion identity, because he was a genius in so many ways. Karl changed fashion and culture in a wondrous way. He was one of the most hardworking figures in the fashion world.
Karl has been on the fashion scene for so long, he was the definition of an icon who stuck to his beliefs and values. He had a great life and gave the world unimaginable collections and ideas. It is truly an end of an era.
Thank you Karl Legerfeld for everything. Your legacy will live on forever.
