Fashion month has finally ended and was wrapped with Miu Miu’s Palais d’léna show. You know the sayings, save the best for last, and indeed the best shows came last in Paris. As always, the Spring 2017 shows in Paris offered surprising trends and collections, leaving the rest of the world scrambling to catch up. Below, find out our six most favourite collections from Paris Fashion Week!
For the first time in its history, the house of Dior has a female creative director in Maria Grazia Chiuri, and it was the bomb. The collection was full of a combination of leather jacket and tulle skirts, t-shirt with “we should all be feminists” tucked into a black long tulle skirt. Tarot card illustrations were also embroidered on tulle gowns and skirts, completed with lingerie and boxer boots. The winner, for us was the all red ensemble: A red leather jacket, a red tulle skirt, a red bag, and a touch of white sneakers. Who doesn’t want to wear that for a party? We imagined that it would be the greatest, most fashionable prom night ever if people dress up in those beautiful Dior gowns.
The Hermès Spring 2017 Collection was showcased at the elegantly done up La Garde Repblicaine. The clothes had a varied choice of styles: Sleeveless shirt in light green-gray color with fringes tucked into extra wide pants, khaki workwear-inspired separates and jumpsuits, high-waisted khaki pants are worn with mannish shirts. The accessories were great too. The bucket or boxy and rigid bags are a must have. A very tasteful collection, indeed.
Designers pulled from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s in selecting prints this season, including Miu Miu who went full poolside nostalgia. Offering pool caps, floral bralette, thick robes with beautiful graphic prints, candy colored flip-flops, two-tone platforms. Miu Miu’s collection was super playful. These are the beachwear that you’ve been dreaming off your whole life!
We love how Stella McCartney designed those corseted cottons top with exaggerated sleeves combined with pants and paperbag waists. Scuba inspired swimsuits were worn with pants and shirts. The collection showcased a beautiful and soft color palette. Everything came in full cotton muslin, eco-friendly suede and vegan leather in earthy tones, they were marvellous!
Sheer clothing and metallics in general were just about everywhere at Paris Fashion Week. You can see them interpreted in Wanda Nylon’s Spring 2017 collection. Futuristic 80s inpired pieces were popping up at the show. The styling were so unique. Rainwear jackets made of gleaming hologram and techno material were our favourite for sure. The accessories were also to die for, look at those earrings!
Vetements Spring 2017 collection was made entirely with other brands, including Brioni, Schott, Levi’s, Comme des Garçons Shirt, Reebok, Canada Goose, Dr. Martens, Alpha Industries, Eastpak, Lucchesse, and Manolo Blahnik. And with this collection, we’re slowly learning that the idea of bigger sleeves, wider flares, and less conventional outerwear silhouettes is going to be huge next season. Button down shirts were left unbuttoned around the ribcage and hoodies worn hunched over the shoulders, it might become a signature one day!
