Friday, We’re In Love with: Marie Myrhøj Jensen

Have you ever heard of a fashion blog called NEMESIS, BABE? If you haven’t, then you should search for it now and later I bet you’ll find yourself reading the posts for hours.

NEMESIS, BABE — a fashion blog created by this really pretty 21-year-Marie Myrhøj Jensen who comes from Denmark. The blog itself is named after a song by Veto (Danish rock band). NEMESIS, BABE contains pictures of Marie’s personal style, which is always colorful, vintage, and sometimes quirky too.

The reason why I love her blog even more is that even though Marie comes from Denmark, she always translates every blog post to English, so it’s good for us (who obviously can’t speak in Danish). Marie also has her own YouTube account, where you can watch and see her bag collection, prints collection, and even a tour to her room that is filled with colorful vintage clothes, shoes, and various fashion books and magazines.

Fascinated by street style, Marie also photographs fashionable people in fashion weeks and she publishes another blog called NEMESIS, BABE street style. So there is no reason to not fall in love with this girl. Let’s check out her style and make her our inspiration!

There are a whole lot of Marie’s pictures that I would love to put here, but since the theme of this week is summer and winter holiday, I picked two of her style that are looking super comfy and stylish to be worn on holidays.

I know Marie loves quirky and fun prints but she also loves colors. So this time, forget prints for a while because I took her style that uses her second characteristic. Have you ever tried to wear an unusual monochromatic look? While black and white prove to be the most popular hues to wear for a monochromatic look, color is acceptable too, but only if it is tone on tone.

Summer is all about colors, so you should be brave and try bright colors for your next monochromatic look. The first style is my favourite look from Marie, which is going to be perfect for summer holidays. She chose an all pink outfit – unexpectedly cute and  fashion-forward. Wearing an outfit that is the same color from head to toe might seem strange but if it is done the right way like how Marie did it, then it’s gonna be far from the word “matchy-matchy”.

How to get the look? Team up a soft pink crop top and a skater skirt with a softer hue of pink. Why is this look perfect for summer? Because it is super comfortable. Crop top can help your skin to breathe and it won’t be sticky if you sweat, while skater skirt is definitely a summer wardrobe staple.

Then, you can wear this look casually with a pair of sneakers, loafers, flats, or any shoes you love, but make sure they are colored pink. Since the top and the bottom for this monochromatic look don’t have prints on it, it’s the right time to show off your statement necklace, and you’re good to go strolling around the city in tropical areas!

The second look I chose from Marie’s blog is the one where she opt for the usual black monochrome outfit. I think this is the simplest and classic outfit for fall and winter! Maybe a lot of people think that an all black outfit is boring, but hey if you wear it like you mean it, you won’t get that ‘dull’ impression.

How to get the look? For the top, you can try wearing a fluffy black jumper or knitwear to keep your body warm. Then, be different and combine the top with some leather or disco pants, the ones that you can find in stores like American Apparel. Pairing various textures and different fabrics like this can break up the monochrome look to keep it fresh and interesting.

Apply a red or orange lipstick and wear a tiny belt to keep things from getting too dark and serious. Adding a camel colored floppy hat or maybe if the weather is too cold, a beige coat over your top will create a great composition too. You can top the look with a pair of platform boots and you’re ready to go! (PRODUCTS: Textured Tee – Topshop / Pink Denim Skater Skirt – Topshop / Marquis Faux Stone Necklace – Forever 21 / Pink Shoes – Dr Martens / Knitted Fluffy Crop Jumper – Topshop / Leather Pant – American Apparel / Chunky Metal Keeper Waist Belt – ASOS / Clean Edge Fedora Hat – Topshop / Matte Lipstick – NYX)

After reading this article and of course all posts in NEMESIS, BABE, I think it’s time to discover and buy some monochromatic pieces to invest in your wardrobe. If you love colours, prints, and vintage stuff, make sure to visit Marie’s blog for your daily inspiration!
