Fashion Around The Globe: JAKARTA

Finally, we come to the end of Fashion Around The Globe series. I have been waiting to upload this post since the first time I started the series. I want to make this to be the first post for the series, but then I decided to put it on the last because, well this is the city I live in. I want to make it special! Therefore, in this post I asked two of my best friends to pose for me and be the fashion inspiration to you all. I also asked them some questions about fashion.

That’s why this post is special. It contains my best friends who are, for me, ones of the most fashionable people I know and also I add a small interview! So it’s Jakarta, the city where everyday is a hot day. Really, it’s either rainy or sunny. But almost ¾ of the year is filled with the heat of the sun. Like what I said on the previous posts, if you live in the city of summer, you are lucky, because summer and prints always go together like chocolate and peanut butter! How fun is that? Read on to find out how my friends work the prints and patterns! Jakarta Girl Street Style 1. Hi! Please tell us about yourself! Hi! My name is Ocha Ross. Right now I am currently busy with work as a fashion stylist and writer at Fimelagirl.com and sometimes I still have fun photoshoots with friends.

2. In 3 words, how would you describe your style? I never describe myself, but I think it would be: preppy, vintage (sometimes), & school girl.

3. Who is your style inspiration? Agyness Deyn (absolutely), Tao Okamoto, Chibi Maruko Chan, Rei Kawakubo.

4. How would you decide what to wear each day? How long does it take for you to dress up? It does not take too long actually. Cos the way I dress depends on my mood each day. But because of my job, although I want to dress in a casual way, it has to be stylish. I usually take 40 to 45 minutes to get ready to work (HAHAHA), for hanging out (depends on who I’m hanging out with, but since I don’t have a boyfriend), I just need 20 minutes. Make up done in 5 minutes.

5. What was your greatest fashion experience in your life so far? The thing that I will never forget was when my friends and I had our first fashion spread, but in the end, the whole thing turned totally different with what we were expecting. The nice one was when I got the chance to be a stylist for Sophia Latjuba, the goddess! 😉 Fun times!

This friend of mine named Ocha, loves wearing pattern and prints. I think, most of the time I meet her, she always wear patterned outfit. The shirt she wore the last time I met her is elephant-patterned (bought from Argyle & Oxford), how uniquely cute is that? Other than wearing summer dresses, she prefers to wear shorts. And not the denim short, but the colorful ones! A bright pink shorts to be exact. This look is really comfortable and the color of her shorts is awesome, too! Ocha’s style is perfect to wear for the sizzling days of summer.

How to get the look: When it comes to ways to wear shorts, most people tend to stick with casual, laid-back looks. However, you can work a much more polished look. Wear bright coloured shorts to embrace the hot days of summer and pair it with a fun patterned collared shirt. Don’t forget to throw some accessories, statement earrings or maybe dozen of bangles or rings. Then, lace up a pair of boots or mary jane to complete the look. Oh and if you love wearing socks, you can definitely wear them too! Jakarta Boy street style 1. Hi! Please tell us about yourself! Hi! My name is Dede F Ch, a student majoring in Visual Communication Design at Binus University. Personally, I love fashion and cats.

2. In 3 words, how would you describe your style? Free, free, & free.

3. Who is your style inspiration? Hahaha, no one.  I’m more inspired by stuff like shoes, knitwear, or anything that fits me at best. But I almost, always like Cole Mohr & Pascal Grob’s styles.

4. How would you decide what to wear each day? How long does it take for you to dress up? Believe it or not, sometimes before I go to bed, I like to think about what to wear for the next day. But I often ended up wearing the whole different outfit haha. For preparation, I once changed outfit six or seven times before I went to campus, hahaha!

5. What was your greatest fashion experience in your life so far? I will never forget myself being a model for “Study of Light” Exhibition photoshoot.

Sometimes, my friends keep asking me, “tell me some places where you can wear hats?”. I mean, yeah, sometimes it’s kind of hard for girls to pull off a hat for their outfit, but for guys, think again! There is no reason why you can’t wear a hat or a cap in this city. Especially, right now with all those cool patterned  caps, there is no excuse as to why you can’t wear one.  So to make it easier for you, look at what Dede wears in the picture. When you can find guys wearing beanie all over the town, let’s be different and wear patterned panel cap instead. This is not boring, and for me it actually looks cooler than beanies. I mean, if you live in a city where the weather is rather cold, wearing beanie can protect your ear, it will warm you up. But, in a city like this where the sun shines so bright all the time, wearing caps is perfect!

How to get the look: If it is one of those lazy Sundays, and you just can’t seem to bother with your hair, throw on a cap. Or if you want to hang out with your friends on Saturdays and maybe you need to go with public transportation, where you have to walk outside from station to station, a cap will help protect your face from the sun and also will add more spice to your whole outfit. To make it cooler, wear a cap with pattern on it. It will definitely add some fun touch to your look. Team your patterned cap with a t-shirt and skinny jeans. Want an outfit that gives you the “street style” ambience? Add a tartan shirt and tie it around your hips, combine it with a pair of skinny jeans, and sneakers or boots. Complete the look with a tote bag. Done! (PRODUCTS: Black Jumper with Buttons – Topman / Red Tartan Oxford Shirt – Topman / Skinny Fit Jeans – Pull&Bear / 1460 – Dr Martens / Bandana Metal H Snapback Cap – ASOS / Reason Homies Tote Bag – ASOS)

See? Both of their styles are definitely the best to wear for summery season! What do you think? Do you like wearing patterns too?

Saya ingin membuat ini menjadi posting pertama, tetapi kemudian saya memutuskan untuk meletakkannya di paling terakhir, because, well this is the city I live in.

Kenapa? Karena musim panas dan  pakaian bermotif always go together like chocolate and peanut butter! How fun is that?

1. Hai! Ceritakan sedikit tentang diri kamu dong! Hi! My name is Ocha Ross. Kesibukan gue sekarang lagi kerja as a fashion stylist + fashion writer di Fimelagirl.com dan masih suka iseng-iseng photoshoot bareng teman-teman.

2. Coba gambarin style kamu dalam tiga kata! I never describe myself, but I think it would be: preppy, vintage (sometimes), & school girl.

It does not take too long kayaknya. Cos the way I dress itu ya yang sesuai sama mood hari itu. Terus make up cuma 5 menitan.

Ketika ide gue dan teman-teman gue for the 1st time, bikin fashion spread tapi the whole thing ketika dicetak jadinya beda total. Sama waktu styling the goddess Sophia Latjuba 😉 Fun times!

Kalau saya ingat-ingat, sebagian besar waktu saya bertemu Ocha, dia selalu mengenakan pakaian bermotif. Kemeja yang dipakai terakhir kali yaitu kemeja lengan pendek bermotif gajah (dibeli dari Argyle & Oxford), how uniquely cute is that?

How to get the look: When it comes to ways to wear shorts, kebanyakan orang cenderung untuk bergaya dengan santai. Oh, dan kalau kamu suka mengenakan kaus kaki, you can definitely wear them too! (PRODUCTS: Button Down Berry Blouse – Stylenanda / Lace Shorts – Topshop / Perforated Bucket Bag – MANGO / Ottoman Hands Round Rub Ring – ASOS / Rectangular Knuckle Ring – Forever 21 / Purple Sock – Tosphop / Mary Jane – Dr Martens)

1. Hai! Ceritakan sedikit tentang diri kamu dong! Hallo gue Dede F Ch, kuliah DKV di Binus University. Personally I love fashion and cats.

2. Coba gambarin style kamu dalam tiga kata! Free, free, & free.

I mean, iya sih, kadang susah memang untuk para cewek kalau mau menambahkan topi kegaya mereka, tapi buat cowok, think again!

Done! (PRODUCTS: Black Jumper with Buttons – Topman / Red Tartan Oxford Shirt – Topman / Skinny Fit Jeans – Pull&Bear / 1460 – Dr Martens / Bandana Metal H Snapback Cap – ASOS / Reason Homies Tote Bag – ASOS)

Gimana menurut kamu?
