I just bought a pair of mary jane flats from Charles & Keith recently. I don’t know if I like to call it Mary Jane, because it does not really look like those old-school cute student shoes you wore as a child. This is more like the adult version – it’s pointy and of course has ankle strap. I really love this new pair of shoes since I can wear it both to casual occasion and more formal one.
Ankle strap can make any pair of shoes more flattering and they always draw attention to your ankle to create a longer and thinner illusion for your legs. This is super functional for you girls who have petite body like me. Wanna know how to style these fabulous shoes? Scroll down and find out!

The shoes I used in the picture above is the exact shoes I bought a week ago. I did not think twice to buy it because it’s actually just a pair of flats that is upgraded with one simple yet significant detail: ankle strap. I know that this pair of shoes will be very versatile and easy to wear with the simplest fashion staple I have in my wardrobe.
That’s why for the first style I am going to go with a casual look. Wear your ankle strap flats with a pretty cashmere sweater. I like to wear an oversized sweater since it can give me the laid back touch. Then combine it with a pair of sexy boyfriend jeans. Why boyfriend jeans? Because you will always need to roll them up, right? This is where you can show off the fabulous ankle strap of your shoes.
For accessories you can wear an edgy leather cross body bag and a square ring. Yes, I love wearing unique rings that make people say, “I’ve never seen that kind of ring before!”. It will make you look really fashion-forward. If you’re a fan of wearing watches, you can add that to this look too!
Ankle strap shoes will make your legs look longer and will add a feminine appeal to this very casual look. Show the world that you can step up your basic black flats effortlessly. This look is perfect for a casual lunch date with your mom or your siblings.

I was not lying when I say that you can wear ankle strap flats to a formal ocassion. When you know how to style them, you can easily get a sleek, sophistiated, and ladylike outfit that will make people turn their heads toward you.
Next time you need to go to a party, try to channel the 1960s fashion trend by wearing a statement patterned shift dress that hits just above the knee. A nude dress like the one I picked for the picture above was designed beautifully with large scale floral that will absolutely make a statement.
A pair of nude ankle-strap flats can complement a statement dress like that. The nude color completes the dress and the narrowed point is of course a part of the retro trend. You’ll end up channeling the 1960s fashion but with a little tweak and make it a very on-trend look today! Pairing a statement shoes with a statement dress like this is just perfect for a party!
Finish off the look with another statement clutch bag, earrings, and don’t forget to apply a very pretty nude nail polish to your nails. This look is incredibly sophisticated and youthful at the same time.
