Karl Lagerfeld brought ancient Greece to Grand Palais in Paris. For Chanel Resort 2018 show, he created a runway full of limestone, columns that rose from sand flooring, and marble-like structures, giving the guests a super strong Grecian vibes. La Modernité de l’Antiquité was the name for the collection and indeed it showed The Modernity of Antiquity.
First of all, let me give a big WOW for this collection. Karl Lagerfeld has always been so extra in making runway shows, but this Cruise collection even beats the rocket he did for his Fall show. Models walked their way down the catwalk in tunic-like dresses in pretty color palette, with golden pattern that looks like Greek pottery. These are some of my favourite looks.
Look at those gladiators. Actually I was not such a fan of them, but now, after Rihanna donned her sexy red gladiator by Dsquared2 at the Met Gala, and now this — Karl completed the model looks with embellished headbands and strappy gladiator heels with a nice pop of color that definitely complement all the wardrobe, I am such a fan.
And as the classic Karl, tweed still made an appearance in this collection. Karl also incorporated a relaxed breezy fit for his draped gowns and dresses. Looking at this collection is like watching many Aphrodites walking dramatically in such breezy summer wardrobe — super goddess-like and the colors were feminine too!
