Bicycle Babe

Bike riding – one of the famous trends in travel and sport over the past few years, especially in summer. Cycle lanes are increasing over the years, and I think it’s good, because bike riding is a green way of geting around and it’s cheap too. Besides running, a lot of my friends started riding bicycle a few years ago and the riders are growing. Bikes are the hottest accessory for summer. An accessory that’s good for both the environment and your body.

Anyways, the question that always comes up when we’re going somewhere by bicycle is what to wear. Let’s face it, you always want to look good! That’s why I’m creating this “Bicycle Babe” post to help you look chic and comfortable while keeping the sporty, healthy, and active girl in mind.

Bike Ride Outfit 1(1. Relaxed Chambray Trousers, at 3X1; 2. Bambi T-Shirt, at Givenchy; 3. iPod Nano, at Apple; 4. Slip-on Espadrilles, at Marc by Marc Jacobs; 5. Designer Natural Striped Canvas Backpack, at Jasper Conran)

Style #1 is very simple and probably this is what people are wearing usually when they ride a bike. The first thing you want to have is comfort, so wearing an oversized t-shirt will do you good (and it’s breathable!) Then, you can spice up a simple t-shirt by wearing one that has prints or graphics on it.

For the bottom, you can combine it with a pair of jogger pants. Yes, jogger pants is so huge right now and it’s very stylish. If you don’t think you can pull off the jogger pants trend, this is the perfect occassion to wear them. I think you can choose any colors except grey, if you don’t want to look too sporty. Then, you can tuck in your t-shirt into the pants for a neat look.

Sneakers will be the most comfortable footwear for bike riding, but you can always wear espadrilles too — it’s summer anyways. A pair of metallic espadrilles will punch up and add interest to your simple outfit.

Then, for accessories, you need bags, iPod and also earphones. A good choice of bag is a backpack. It’s the perfect hands-free solution for bicycle riders. Don’t forget to bring your iPod and earphones so you can listen to your favourite songs while cycling. This look is laid-back but chic in its own way. This outfit is also practical enough to hop on a bike!

Bike Ride Outfit 2(1. Printed Cotton-poplin Dress, at Suno; 2. Basket; 3. Lips in Charmed, at Topshop; 4. Flatform Sandals; 5. Diana Analog Camera)

Some issue appears for people who rarely wear pants in their daily life and prefer to wear dresses or skirt on a bike. Some people love to be appropriately dressed for the moments in a day, so they basically just round up the outfit they’re going to wear without needing to change after riding a bike. But how to wear dresses when you cycle?

For  y’all who wants to look cute and appropriately dressed while riding a bike, you can. Just pick your favourite dress that is made of cotton and have a knee-length A-line shape for cycling. This is the best dress shape you can wear, because you don’t want them to catch on your bike if it’s too long.

You also don’t want to wear something that’s too tight, it won’t be comfortable. After that, another trouble with wearing skirt or dresses on a bicycle is that you sometimes flash your ‘knickers’. To avoid that, you can wear a bloomer under your skirt and over your undies. That’s the best solution.

Then, if you love to wear heels, there’s no need to ditch them. When you’re going for a bike riding, a pair of flatforms sandals with bright colors will offer you a comfortable and fun ride without sacrificing height. Accessorize with your camera and remember to apply lipstick  to your lips to be a Bicycle Babe.

Another trick to remember, choose a bike with a basket to hold all your fashionable stuff. The one I used in the picture above got style and function to carry all your belongings. And, of course, safety first! Be fashionable but don’t forget to protect your head with helmets!
